During lunch time today Daniel invited me to be taken out to lunch by Matt and Chris, two guys he's been working with and who are trying to help out Catalyze by selling them semiconductor devices. We went to a Mexican restaurant called Cemitas Puebla, which was really good. On the walk over, you could smell really rich chocolate, and apparently there's a great chocolate store nearby that I need to find someday soon. Anyway, while we were waiting for our food, Chris, who works for a company called Freescale, told me about a huge event they're holding soon in Austin that I could potentially go to. Steve Wozniak (father of the Apple computer) will be there talking about technical innovation, and I could attend tech sessions in any of eight categories, for example "Smart Cities" or "Insight & Innovation." It's super expensive ($1000 just for admission) but Chris said he might be able to sponsor me and pay for my flight there. So we'll see!
Also, unrelated, we were talking about bouncers and Matt informed me that apparently in the top 20 smartest people (IQ), at least five are or have been bouncers. I have no idea what the correlation could be, but that's really neat. We proceeded to hear about Chris's and Daniel's stories of being bounced from a club. Chris was one of ten people at the club, and him and his friends were requesting a specific song from the DJ. He ignored their request, and when he left the table they decided to play it anyway. Daniel was kicked out by drawing graffiti in the bathroom. Also, apparently to assault somebody in a club, the bouncer must be hit or at least threatened first.
I finally finished my mount design for the Guard Llama, and all I need to do now is print it! I hope it works.
Exciting news came in for me today. Chris was in the office today and I told her that I want to go to the StartupBus event. And as it turns out, as a sponsor for the event, Catalyze is given one free spot on a bus and Chris said that she was pretty sure it's going to be given to me! I confirmed this with Bill so now I just need to fill out the application, and it's official!
